Cookies and flash cookies

I don’t like cookies. I realize they’re important to certain websites when you’re shopping and want your preferences to be valid when you return to a web site, but I try to keep security and privacy in mind, with the goal of preventing tracking of my surfing as much as possible.

I don’t like cookies and I really don’t like flash cookies, mainly because they seem to me to be a sneaky way of keeping cookies on a computer… that’s my perception.

I’ve decided to try this as an experiment…
$ cd ~/.macromedia/Flash_Player
$ rm -rf macromedia.com/
$ ln -s macromedia.com /dev/null
$ rm -rf \#SharedObjects
$ ln -s /dev/null \#SharedObjects

When you do
$ ls -la

you’ll see
macromedia.com -> /dev/null
#SharedObjects -> /dev/null
